We left the house at 11:15, right  on schedule, and stopped by Desert Cove to visit my mom and dad. They are sad to see us leave but excited to follow our adventure.

We stopped at the truck stop in Kamloops for gas and a romantic pizza lunch in the parking lot.

We arrived in North Delta around 5:30 and parked in the driveway of our great friends Ali and Emmanuel. After a good feast of Indian food and lots of catching up, we retired to our home on wheels for a good night sleep.

This morning we were up early  to drive out to UBC for a photo shoot at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health. We met Doctor Erik Pioro and the ALS team.

After the shoot Donna and I parked at Spanish Banks and did a brick session, 26 k on the bike followed by a 2.5 k run….it was great to run and bike back where we started. When Donna and I met as members of the South Slope Y tri club, the UBC hill was part of our most followed route.

The day concluded  with a family dinner at Art and Marlene’s house, Donna’s dad and his wife, then a quick drive back to Ali’s driveway.

On to the island tomorrow for more photos and a news conference…….and the first race on Sunday.
