We spent a few days at Manitou Lake regional campsite on our way to Saskatoon. The groundskeeper stopped to share with us that his buddy’s wife had ALS. We gave him our information card.

Manitou is known world-wide for its high mineral content which causes people to float,  including us…

The weather was a little iffy – windy, rainy, warm, sunny, thunder… But we managed to get in:

some golfing…

Then it was on to Pike Lake Provincial Park, where our new Race #6 will be on Saturday. After we set up, a fellow walked by, smiled, waved at us, said he’d done a run for ALS, and kept walking.

We took a bike ride around the park (over 200 sites, outdoor pool with water slide, disc golf, volleyball), then had a wee bit of a swim. Water temp was nice. Just after we got back to our campsite, the thunderstorm we’d been getting alerts about all day finally hit us. It was short-lived, but pretty intense rain and thunder, with the lightning buried within the clouds. Then….wind and sunshine… then a tornado warning! Yikes!! Having safety and emergency management in our blood, we discussed what we’d do if things got worse. Fortunately, the warning was cancelled soon after. We really appreciate the Alert App and now have a tornado response plan, something we don’t have to worry about in BC.

We finally added some wildlife to our list:

Buffalo….

Pelicans…
